Love this phone. I am an android person through and through and find this easy an intuitive to use. The size makes it good for reading the screen and it takes great pictures.

I used to own a 'brick' iPhone. I'm talking about the second iPhone that came out. I've seen how smartphones have got better and expensive, especially iPhones. After couple of years, I decided it was time to get a new smartphone. And it was either this S5 or an LG G3 LG Electronics G3 4G Smartphone 16 GB (UK SIM-Free, Android, 5.5 inch) - Black . I went for the S5...
The Honor5 smartphone and the One Plus One smartphone was considered. I didn't go for them although they were great phones. -mainly due to the lack of warranty/support.
The phone came in a genuine box, with a genuine charger and most importantly, a genuine phone. I put my SIM in, charged a little bit and it was ready. It took me a while to get used to the phone- fiddling around and customising (something that is limited in iPhones). And it's a great smartphone. I've had it for nearly a year and this phone has everything I want.

RECOMMENDATIONS (which this phone has)
-Do your research. Know what you are buying. Compare other phones, focusing on specs.
-Android Operating System. I'm an iPhone convert. I believe Android is better- more customisable and more 'free'. iPhone (IOS) /Apple is not worth it.
-Minimum 5inch screen display. The S5 is 5.1inch. Not too big and not too small. Fits in pocket. Good size for everyday tasks including watching videos. The S5 has a Super AMOLED touchscreen.
-Full HD (1080x1920) display. Best quality display= good user experience.
-Minimum 6MP camera. The S5 has 16MP. The higher it is the better quality the images/videos would be. However, A LOT of memory is used up. So I changed the camera settings set at 6MP for images and 2.4MP for video.
-Minimum 16GB internal memory. 4.2GB out of 16GB is used for the system (Operating System, etc.) There is a 32GB version of the S5 and its definitely something to look into.
-SD-card compatible of up to 128gb. Easily remove and transport data from various devices. This is a must as the internal memory is limited.
-Minimum 2GB RAM. It's actually 1.7GB usable RAM. This is the ability to multitask. At idle, it runs at 1.2GB. It would have been better if it was 3GB. The S5 still runs smoothly.
-A Quad-Core CPU @ 2GHz with a Snapdragon Chipset. Process data/tasks quickly. Quad-Core is better than Dual-Core. Higher "@ __GHz" means faster processing. The S5 is 2.5GHz. And the latest chipset series is the Snapdragon series.
-Speaker/audio with a 3.5mm audio jack.
-Wi-fi feature. A must.
-At least 2500mAh battery. The higher it is, the more charge it can hold. The S5 is 2800mAh. The battery life is ok, although I charge it every day.
-Water resistant. You never know, you might drop your phone where you least expect it!

-The S5 has a fingerprint scanner on the home button. It works but I don't use it.
-Budget under £300. Smartphones are ridiculously expensive these days. You can get a good phone for under £300
-Minimum 2 years warranty. The S5 has 2 years with the 1st year being with Amazon (you would have to contact Amazon after 30 days if you need help).
-Buy New from "Dispatched and Sold by Amazon". Avoid any other sellers, including sellers that are fulfilled by Amazon. Reduce the chance of getting a defect. It would also be an easy process with Amazon if something was to go wrong. Majority of the 1* reviews are based on other sellers (such as sellers from Hong Kong)- customers getting fakes, problem with charger, etc.

I've had this smartphone for nearly a year and it's great. I didn't go for the S6 because it was more expensive than the S5, and I believed it wasn't worth it. No memory card and battery not removable- like an iPhone. S5 was just ideal. Has everything. I expect the S5 to last at least 5 years.

The only draw back for me was that my sim does not fit and I have had to order a new micro one. The phone is otherwise lovely, I love Samsung and only use their phones. I wish they would put the sim on the outside like the Sony Xperia does, but not to worry, once its in place it should work ok, hopefully I won't lose all my contacts whilst sending them across. The phone was easy to sinc to all my other data, the colours are clear and precise. Not necessary to have so much installed but so far, so good. I gave a five star because its a really lovely mobile. My last phone lasted three years before just crashing and dying on me. Its a Samsung 3 mini. I hope I get as much, if not more enjoyment out of this new one. Its so much bigger but over big. I am happy with it and hope if you buy one also, you will be also. On the box it says EU sim card only. But we are in the EU so when it arrives, it had better work!

Superb quality item from Samsung. I skipped the S4 so can't comment on a comparison between those two models, but using the S5 after the S3 is a delight, it really is that good. The S3 worked well up to the point of a recent upgrade to the operating system, hence the reason for a change (risky perhaps staying with Samsung after that but worth it ultimately).The screen is simply brilliant, excellent clarity and colour. Battery life has been hugely improved. My phone is a mobile office, and I'm often on the go for twelve hours at a time, even then the phone will only be down to 50-60% on an average day. Connections via Bluetooth are first rate (I used to find a drop off between my headphones and the S3 on numerous occasions). The fingerprint scanner is an excellent security tool, and has worked very well so far. The overall speed of connection to the internet, either via WiFi or otherwise, is very good, with minimal delay when browsing. Certain shortcuts around the phone and settings have been improved, making the phone more user friendly. The phone feels very well made, as did my S3, I know people moan about the plastic back, but as the flip out case I use takes the place of the factory back (the case is an original Samsung item) then there is no issue. I do wonder how long the protective cover for the charger will last, as that does seem to be a possible weak point, but so far no complaints. The phone feels comfortable to handle being not too big, and overall I am extremely happy with it. I can't compare it with the latest iPhone, as I have never had an iPhone, so I'll leave that for others to compare, but I am personally very satisfied. Oh yes, and it works really well as a phone too!!!

I received this phone the other day, it started quickly and the initial signing in etc took no time at all. This phone came with a European Samsung plug and a separate adapter for the wall, which is not a complaint but was a surprise and led to me watching videos on youtube about how to identify a fake S5, this phone did not tick a single box and I have concluded that it is just a European model. The phone is unlocked and works well on both GiffGaff and TescoMobile. The Camera is amazing, the screen is amazing and can take a 128gb memory card so pretty much has unlimited memory, which is why I chose this phone over the S6.
